What is The Cambium?

Nestled on the lush surrounds of Red Hill in the Mornington Peninsula, The Cambium is an exclusive-use venue for businesses looking to enact change, away from the distractions of the workplace.

Made up of accommodation, premium business facilities and a dining room with exquisite garden views, it’s designed to nurture purposeful collaboration, creative thinking and in-depth strategy in the great outdoors. It’s a place to retreat from the everyday and to renew connection with your professional vision. It’s a blank canvas for innovation, thoughtfully tailored to the unique intention of your visit.

The Experience

What is on the property?

The Cambium houses three buildings nestled under the towering Manna Gums.

The first building is The Stables and houses the business spaces (The Boardroom, Manna Hall (multipurpose room) & The Loft (business lounge) and some accommodation. The building is a converted stable, hence the namesake.

The second building hosts the remainder of the accommodation, with all suites enjoying their own private view of the nature reserve or sprawling gardens. The Cambium Dining Room makes the third and final building, with a grand bluestone fireplace overlooking various outdoor entertaining spaces to enjoy and explore.

Groups are encouraged to wander throughout, take in the fresh air and explore. Spacious communal lounges, an honesty bar and wood fires are throughout the buildings. What’s our is yours to enjoy throughout your stay.

Do we have exclusive access to the entire grounds during our stay?

One of the things that makes The Cambium so unique is that it is exclusively yours for your entire stay. We encourage you to make yourself completely at home alongside the kangaroos, native birds and resident chickens.

Please note that the property owners also live on site, but are not in any the areas utilised by the guests.

How many people can The Cambium accommodate?

The Cambium has 10 suites fitted with king and queen size beds, therefore can cater for 10 individuals or 10 couples.

The Cambium business facilities can host up to 25 people in Manna Hall with various seating arrangements available. The Boardroom seats 14 people.

What accommodation is offered?

The Cambium’s 10 suites are all fitted with king and queen size beds all with their own private ensuite.

Additional accommodation is available at properties in the local area and transport can be arranged to cater for larger groups.

Glamping is also available onsite.

The Cambium’s communally minded design means that the rooms are simply intended for retiring to in comfort at the end of the evening, or a quick recharge before commencing an activity or team dinner. We encourage you to spend as much time outside your room, in communal areas with your team, as possible.

Wi-Fi is available in the rooms, however; we recommend you use only as you really need.

Can we book single rooms at The Cambium?

Unfortunately, individual bookings are not available at The Cambium. Bookings must be a part of one group or associated event with a minimum of two nights stay.

Food and beverage

We encourage guests to spend time with their team while at The Cambium, and eating and drinking together is the best part!

  • A communal coffee machine accessible 24hrs

Business catering

Morning tea, a working lunch and afternoon tea can be served anywhere you request around the venue (pending weather restrictions). Consider lunch around the fire pit or morning tea in the harvest garden.

Dinner

  • Plan dinner onsite at The Cambium and enjoy a private dinner in the Cambium Dining Room overlooking the garden and nature reserve:

    We will provide you with premium local ingredients and access to our commercial kitchen.
  • Let us cook for you
    Enjoy a dinner cooked by a personal chef. Various catering options are available, please enquire. Sorry, BYO is not permitted. We have a selection of premium beverages available for all to enjoy!
  • Keen to explore Red Hill? Dinner can be enjoyed off site at the numerous award-winning restaurants nearby. Please let us know if we can assist with finding the right venue for your group.

Dietary requirements

We do our best to cater to food intolerances and can accommodate only basic dietary requirements (GF, DF, V, VG). Please let us know at least 10 days prior to your arrival.

Service

The Cambium team is felt but not heard. If you need us, we are on standby to assist, if not, you will be left alone.

On arrival at The Cambium, groups will be given a short briefing to introduce you to the Cambium lifestyle and explain how best to embrace your time with us.

What to pack?

At the Cambium you will be living both indoors and out so planning your packing ahead will ensure you are comfortable wherever you are.

Weather conditions in Red Hill can range from perfectly still to the perfect storm. The sanctuary of the fireplace or electric blanket is never far away, but warm layers, a cosy jacket and sturdy footwear will be your best friends when exploring the property.

Are there spa facilities or treatments on site?

There are no onsite spa facilities or treatments at The Cambium. When curating your stay, we can organise activities such as massages, yoga and fitness. Please get in touch with us to hear more about the available options.

Accessibility

Despite being contained within existing heritage buildings, the main dining room and some outdoor communal spaces around the property are wheelchair accessible. The Dining Room has an accessible restroom.

All buildings can also be accessed directly by emergency vehicles if required.

Bookings

Availability

The Cambium is open from Monday - Saturday.

Pending availability we may be able to cater for bookings outside these times for special events.

Seasons of The Cambium

The Cambium is great to visit all year round! Summer at Red Hill is warm and makes for a beautiful time to visit. Utilising the various outdoor spaces during summer is a great way to enjoy your stay, with plenty of natural shade, outdoor umbrellas and air conditioning in your rooms to keep you cool.

Autumn and Spring, the transitional months, are gorgeous times to visit with the natural beauty of the changing trees and blooming flowers. The climate is more moderate with cooler mornings and evenings and warm during the day, making it ideal to enjoy your time both inside and outside. It’s also the perfect time to get out and about around Red Hill.

Winter is the best time to rug up and enjoy the fire pit outside under the stars. Winter can get very cold and wet; however, we ensure that you are warm during your stay with electric blankets, premium heating and many open fireplaces. Winter is an amazing time for peace and clarity at The Cambium.

Property Hire

The Cambium property is available at certain times of the year for private venue hire.

Please note, when hiring The Cambium, you must use our preferred partners for catering, hiring equipment and audio-visual technology. There are also strict restrictions on externally applied music as we are located in the nature reserve.
